What is Tongkat ali?
Dongge Ali (scientific name: Eurycoma longifolia Jack.) is a small evergreen tree of the genus Maleopsis in the family Balsam. 4 to 6 m tall, up to 18 m, trunk diameter up to 30.5 cm, the root light yellow; Leaves alternate, odd pinnate compound, ca. 30 ~ 100cm long, leaflets opposite or subopposite, long ovate or lanceolate; Panicles terminal or axillary, mauve red; Drupes ca. 12 mm long, oval, yellow to reddish-brown at maturity. The flowering period is from June to July, and the fruit period is from August to September.
