About Senna Alexandrina
Senna alexandrina is a leguminous plant of the genus Cassia. Small herbaceous shrub, about 1 m tall.
Stipule ovate-lanceolate, 2-4 mm long; Even pinnate compound leaves, alternate; Brachypetiolate; Leaflet 5-8 pairs, leaf ovate-lanceolate to linear-lanceolate. Raceme axillary or terminal;
Flowers 6-14, pedicel base with an ovate bracteolate; Sepals 5, long ovate, slightly unequal large; Petals 5, yellow. Pod oblong, flat, 4 -- 6 cm long, 1 -- 1.7 cm wide, apex apex small, unconspicuous, hairy when young; Seeds 4-7, seed coat brown-green, fine linear stalk, with warty wrinkles.
Flowering from September to December, fruit in March of the following year.

Functions
Senna leaf has the following functions, antibacterial, hemostatic, muscle relaxation and spasmolytic.

2 Hemostasis: After oral administration, senna powder can increase platelets and fibrinogen, shorten coagulation time, calcium recovery time and thromboplastin time, and help hemostasis.
3 Muscle relaxation and spasmolytic effects: Senna has curarin-like effects, which can block acetylcholine in motor nerve endings and skeletal muscles, thereby relaxing muscles. Some hydroxy-anthraquinones in senna have certain antispasmodic effects.
